Le ReNDeZ|VOUS bistro | Reviews
Each night when we open our doors, we cross our fingers that the food will be scrumptious, the service attentive and the ambiance charming.  So far, we seem to have gotten it right.  Apparently others think so, too. Thanks for noticing.

The "romantic" French BYO storefront in Kenilworth is "the real Gallic deal" for devotees who delight in "superb Proven
çal cuisine" and "classic bistro fare".

The New York Times | April 20, 2008 - EXCELLENT.  "...indeed the most appealing thing about (Le Rendez-Vous) is Philippe Ličvre, a compact man of 38 in a white chef’s tunic who makes frequent forays from the kitchen to reassure himself that everyone’s having a good time.  He needn’t worry. From an opening amuse-bouche of caramelized-onion focaccia through a sumptuous and satisfying dessert of apple crępes, every other dish is just about as fine (if not as calorically virtuous) as that haricot tour de force." - David Corcoran read more...

The Courier News | July 1, 2006 - "Food at Le Rendez-vous is consistently good. I have probably dined there 15 to 20 times over the past 10 years and have never been disappointed.  What I like about the menu is the simplicity and earthiness. Flavors are intense without the fussiness one often associates with French food." - Lois Mattson

The Star Ledger  |  January 1, 2006 - Named one of New Jersey's Top 10 Best Restaurants for 2005.  "Le Rendez-Vous is an old favorite that offers the flavor of France, courtesy of chef-owner Philppe Lievre and chef de cuisine Alexandre Gomes.  This bistro's intimate atmosphere and food are authentic."

The Star Ledger  |  February 6, 2005  * * * 1/2  "The atmosphere is relaxed and quite informal, with French prints and paintings on the walls of this unassuming vest pocket gem.  The food, however, is brilliant, and every choice is scintillating." - Cody Kendall (To see the complete review, click here.)

New Jersey Monthly  |  January 2004 -   "When I arrive at Le Rendez-vous Bistro, I can't help but consider the feasibility of a tryst at this petit restaurant...this intimacy helps give Le Rendez-vous Bistro its charm.  It's cozy and warmly lit, with candlelight flickering on honey-colored walls.  A terra-cotta tile floor and simple wooden chairs give it a feel that's de riguer in Paris and a nice change here in the Garden State."  - Anthony Giglio.

Zagat Survey New Jersey Restaurants 2003-2004 - Food: 25  Decor: 19  Service: 23 " 'Paris on the Boulevard' in this 'tiny, romantic' French-Med 'jewel', aka 'BYO heaven', where 'impeccably prepared dishes' betraying 'exquisite' 'attention to detail' are 'wonderful'...
